Wildlife Tours

Our Wildlife programme is based around travel through the English Channel, the Bay of Biscay and Northern Spain. It aims to bring you closer to the cetaceans and pelagic birds over the ocean and inland where various species are to be observed at different locations and times throughout the year.

Our first class team consists of  one or the other  of Spain’s top  two Wildlife Guides and our local English Marine expert who will bring to life the magic of these regions. Also, since he started to drive these groups several years ago is Beni, our Spanish Driver who has taken such an interest that he is now an avid Wildlifer with all the right equipment!

Because our travellers come from far and wide it is impossible to use a British coach on these tours as we cannot pick up here, there and everywhere across the UK. You’ll meet us at Plymouth Ferryport and cross to Santander in Spain where we then join our Spanish vehicle.  Apart from the foregoing reason, this method also keeps the cost down as we don’t have to pay for an idle coach for two days at sea!

The format is tried and tested over the past 10 years -our English Guide is at hand to lead the ocean part of the tour then he hands over to one of our Spanish colleagues who takes over in Spain though our ocean expert stays with the group and helps in Spain.

The areas selected are related to the time of year and the historic observations of that area and that time of year.

In addition to birds and cetaceans there may opportunties to observe butterflies and possibly traces of bears and wolves though this is not guaranteed.

If your Club/Society would like a dedicated tour on a date /destination of your own choosing we’d would be pleased to discuss it. You’d need a minimum of at least 15 persons.

Finally, if your partner has no interest in bird watching but would like to join you on any tour with a view to doing their own thing at or around the hotel we would be happy to accommodate them and reduce the cost accordingly.
